UN Human Rights Council adopts Universal Periodic Review outcome of Belarus

MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – The Human Rights Council of the UN adopted the outcome of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Belarus on 16 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council adopted the report of its working group on the Universal Periodic Review of Belarus of the third cycle that was held on 2 November 2020. As many as 92 countries commented on Belarus' review, most of them praised Belarus' efforts to implement the recommendations of the second UPR cycle,” the press service noted.

According to the outcome of the third UPR cycle, Belarus accepted the majority of recommendations from the member states.

Belarus remains committed to the UPR process that is a unique instrument for monitoring developments in the field of human rights in all countries of the world based on a meaningful dialogue and cooperation.
