Ryzhenkov: Belarus-Russia ministerial meetings allow for discussion of global, bilateral agenda

MOSCOW, 25 November (BelTA) – Joint meetings of the collegiums of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia allow for the discussion of sensitive issues on the global and bilateral agenda, Belarusian Foreign Affairs Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov told media in Moscow on 25 November, BelTA has learned.

Maxim Ryzhenkov thanked his Russian colleagues for the frank dialogue on all issues of mutual interest during the latest joint meeting of the two ministries' collegiums.

“Holding joint meetings of the foreign ministries' collegiums demonstrates an unprecedented allied level of trust and integration between our countries, unseen anywhere in the post-Soviet space, and indeed, in the world,” Maxim Ryzhenkov said.

According to the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs, this format has long proven its high effectiveness.
"It allows us to rhythmically and systematically, with the broadest possible participation, discuss the most pressing, and when necessary, sensitive issues of both the global and bilateral agenda with our colleagues," Maxim Ryzhenkov stated.

At the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov visited Moscow on 25 November for a working visit to participate in the annual joint meeting of the collegiums of the Russian and Belarusian foreign ministries. Such meetings have been held annually since 2000, alternating between Belarus and Russia, and serve as an effective mechanism for synchronizing the two countries' efforts on the international stage. The parties took stock of the interim results of implementing the decisions of the previous meeting and the program of concerted actions in foreign policy of the states party to the Union State Treaty for 2024-2026.
