Opinion: U.S. politicians have crossed the red line in their rhetoric

MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – The political circles of the United States have crossed the red line in their rhetoric and are starting to play with fire, BelTA learned from Nikolai Shchekin, Head of the Sociology of Public Administration Department at the Sociology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

“Our president has repeatedly emphasized that Belarus advocates a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and has been taking all steps to peacefully resolve the situation since its start. Moreover, it was Aleksandr Lukashenko who put forward a number of peace initiatives and took part in many negotiations personally. The collective West must eventually understand that the head of state will stand up for his people and will not allow encroachment on the sacred thing - the sovereignty and independence of the country. It is clear that many in the West do not like this. They do not like that the actions of the head of state frustrated the blitzkrieg attempts and cooled the hot heads a little. Therefore, the militant rhetoric of the United States is aimed at undermining the security of Europe and provoking full-scale hostilities,” said Nikolai Shchekin.

Belarus will not allow to be threatened and stands ready to fight back. “The political circles of the United States and the collective West in general have crossed the red line in their rhetoric and are starting to play with fire. The West must remember that Belarus keeps its gunpowder dry. At the same time, the president has always been a vocal supporter of friendship and unity of the three Slavic peoples - Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians,” he stressed.

“The collective West does not take into account the main thing about our country: the Belarusian people fully support the aspirations of our president to bring back peace and reduce tension. The unity of the Belarusian people and the head of state will become a cold shower for the Polish, Lithuanian, Ukrainian and American leadership. We see that the lack of independence, corruption and venality of the Ukrainian leadership are pushing the country into abyss. Of course, we cannot silently watch Western elites robbing and destroying a brotherly nation. In this regard, Zelensky urgently needs to embark on a new stage of negotiations in the name of peace and future in his country. The Slavic peoples should shape their future on their own,” Nikolai Shchekin said.
