MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – An office of the Sicily-Belarus Friendship Association was inaugurated in the Sicilian town of Randazzo, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The city signed a friendship and cooperation agreement with the Belarusian Braslav back in 2023. The parties have been implementing projects in the field of culture, tourism and trade.
The friendship between the Belarusian and Italian peoples grows stronger year by year. Over the past few years, associations of friendship with Belarus have been set up in various regions of Italy. These associations are not engaged in politics, but actively promote economic, cultural, sports, and scientific ties between Belarusians and Italians. Last October, for example, the Veneto-Belarus Friendship Association provided invaluable assistance in organizing the Belarusian-Italian business forum Bridge to the Future.

“Randazzo on the island of Sicily played host to a solemn opening of the office of the Sicily-Belarus friendship association. Sicilians, as well as residents of other regions of Italy, have warm regard and great interest towards our country and our people. They are interested in everything, including how people live in Belarus, what they think and dream about, what they strive for, and how they fight for peace,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The town of Randazzo signed an agreement on friendship and cooperation with Belarus’ Braslav in 2023. Projects in culture, tourism, trade and much more are the major goals of the association. Just recently, Sicily has welcomed the Belarusian national futsal team. One of the nearest tasks, mentioned by the head of the association, is participation in the international festival Braslav Zarnitsy 2025. These are just a few examples of the work of such associations.
