Kyrgyzstan’s Masadykov to assume post of CSTO Secretary General on 1 January 2026

BISHKEK, 27 November (BelTA) – Kyrgyzstan’s representative Taalatbek Masadykov will assume the post of Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on 1 January 2026. This decision was made at the CSTO summit in Bishkek, BelTA has learned.

At present, Taalatbek Masadykov serves as CSTO Deputy Secretary General. The current Secretary General's term of office ends on 31 December 2025. In accordance with the CSTO Charter, Kyrgyzstan’s representative will head the Secretariat for the next three-year period (2026-2028).

“Belarus supported the candidacy of Taalatbek Masadykov for the position of the CSTO Secretary General and is ready for close and constructive cooperation,” Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in his address at the summit.
