MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) - The role of the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries in cultural exchanges is extremely important, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Zhang Wenchuan said at an official event to mark the 100th anniversary of the Society held at the House of Friendship on 14 April, BelTA has learned.
“In the long river of history, one hundred years is a remarkable milestone. Having passed through the trials and hardships of a century, the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries has always remained true to its original mission: the pursuit of strengthening friendship between peoples, presenting to the world the unique history, culture, and national spirit of Belarus,” the diplomat noted.
According to the ambassador, the Society builds bridges of mutual understanding and trust between Belarus and the peoples of other countries, playing an irreplaceable and unique role in promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning, as well as in deepening people-to-people ties.
“Starting with such outstanding writers as Yanka Kupala, Tishka Gartny, and Mikhas Charot, new generations of Belarusians and literary figures, with their tireless energy and sincerity, have carried and continue to carry the Belarusian spirit and Belarusian culture into the world, contributing an inexhaustible positive force to the cause of peace and friendship. This dedication and warmth of heart deserve the highest respect,” Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan said.
