Belarus’ Parliament vice speaker: Latin America is one of global economic growth hubs

MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – Latin America is developing dynamically and is one of the growth hubs of the global economy, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vadim Ipatov said at an extended meeting with a delegation of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO), BelTA has learned.

“Today, it is very important to recognize that the Latin American region is developing dynamically. It is one of the growth hubs of the global economy. Therefore, I hope that during our meeting we will certainly discuss cooperation not only in the parliamentary dimension, but also in other areas of our life,” Vadim Ipatov said.
According to him, the Belarusian side regards the visit of the PARLATINO delegation as a further step to boost ties between Belarus and the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament.

“My colleagues and I are very happy that you have found time to visit Belarus. We hope that your visit will help strengthen friendship and cooperation between our parliaments,” he stressed.

The vice speaker of the House of Representatives noted that relations between Latin American and Caribbean states and Belarus have always been based on friendship and mutual understanding. “We hope to interact with you in various international organizations and at all global forums. Especially since we share many common approaches and views on the development of global politics,” he said.

Vadim Ipatov pointed out that the National Assembly of Belarus has formed a delegation for maintaining contacts with PARLATINO. The Belarusian side has many proposals.

President of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament Rolando González Patricio stated that the people gathered here today are not strangers to one another. Meetings have already taken place via videoconference and at international forums. “I am glad to note that the time has come to intensify and accelerate our interaction and cooperation,” he said.

Rolando González Patricio considers Belarus’ participation in PARLATINO assemblies to be a very important component of joint work, allowing the country to make its voice heard and deliver its message to the region. “We could improve our interaction by working together on platforms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union,” he believes.

The parties could strengthen their positions and jointly oppose decisions that do not comply with the principles of international law, the PARLATINO president stressed. In his words, joint opposition would help defend viewpoints and principles.
