Ambassador: India will host Days of Culture of Belarus in December 2025

MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) - India and Belarus plan to exchange Days of Culture in 2025 and 2026, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Ashok Kumar said during a press conference held at the National Press Center of Belarus to mark International Yoga Day, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat stressed that Days of Culture of Belarus in India are scheduled for December this year.

Ambassador Ashok Kumar emphasized the importance of cultural cooperation between Belarus and India. “Cultural relations aim to strengthen people-to-people ties and mutual understanding of each other’s cultures. These relations are constantly evolving,” he noted.

The ambassador also remarked that India actively participates in various cultural events held in Belarus, including the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk and the Listapad film festival.

“Since Indian cinema is very popular in Belarus, the Indian Embassy has organized Days of Indian Cinema in Vitebsk, Grodno, Gomel, and Minsk,” he added. “In March and June, I visited Gomel Oblast and Brest Oblast, where I explored both the cultural development of these regions and the potential for establishing business ties between the two countries’ business communities. I plan to visit other regions of Belarus in the near future.”

The ambassador also noted that Days of India in Belarus are expected to take place this year and the next. According to him, these events will allow Belarusians to become more familiar with Indian culture.

At the press conference, Ambassador Ashok Kumar also emphasized the importance of International Yoga Day, which was established by the UN General Assembly in 2014 and has been celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015. The ambassador noted that the primary goal of yoga is to improve health.
