Ambassador: Belarus-Azerbaijan relations rely on solid foundation

MINSK, 29 July (BelTA) - Relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan rely on a solid foundation, outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Belarus Latif Gandilov told reporters following a meeting with Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko in Minsk on 29 July, BelTA has learned.

"Our relations are based on a very solid foundation. During the last 30 years since gaining independence, the countries have greatly strengthened them. Of course, the main contributors to the cooperation are our presidents, their personal relations. Based on this, the relations between our states have reached a high level," Ambassador Latif Gandilov said.

According to him, Belarus and Azerbaijan are not only close, friendly countries. They are strategic partners. “Our relations fit this definition. Our presidents meet regularly. It is a continuous, intensive relationship. Every two years, we compare notes, set clear goals, and the presidents monitor the progress towards these goals. Therefore, it is simply impossible to depart from the charted course here. The last visit of the Belarusian president showed that the countries have fulfilled the tasks set in 2018 and are proceeding to a new stage in the relations, promoting closer cooperation between industrial enterprises. The intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation is scheduled to convene in September," the ambassador said.

Ambassador Latif Gandilov stressed that the relations have very good development prospects. "We will deepen our ties, relations in the field of education, culture, healthcare. I think that these areas will receive even greater support and development," he added.
