HARARE, 13 March (BelTA - ZBC) - Zimbabwe will once again host top
international triathletes when the 2026 Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup and
Multi-Sport Festival gets underway at Troutbeck Resort in Nyanga this
Saturday.
What began as a single triathlon competition has evolved into a multi-sport festival, with several activities now running in conjunction with the main event to create a full day of sports and recreation for athletes and spectators alike.
The festival will attract elite competitors from Austria, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Morocco and South Africa, who will battle it out against Zimbabwe’s top triathletes.
In the elite men’s race, 17 athletes have entered the competition, while the women’s category features three competitors, including Zimbabwe’s Andie Kuipers, who returns to action after missing the previous event.
Local hopes will rest on Callum Smith and Zander Botha, with Botha coming into the competition fresh from competing at the Africa Triathlon Junior Cup Ebotse in South Africa.
The junior categories will also showcase Zimbabwe’s rising talent, including Matthew Hildebrand, Zizael Manyati and Rachel O’Donoghue.
Beyond the triathlon races, the festival will feature several side events, including the National Championships, Open Water Swim, trail run, aquathlon, Corporate Team Triathlon Challenge and the Duathlon as well as mountain bike competitions.
