Snopkov: Belarus, Russia Leningrad Oblast are well positioned to increase trade

MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Leningrad Oblast have reserves to reach $2 billion in trade, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said at a meeting of the joint commission for cooperation between Belarus and Leningrad Oblast, BelTA has learned.

"Perhaps, our cooperation can be called exemplary. Most of the issues we discuss are monetized into practical results. This is confirmed by statistics. Today, the Belarusian president set us new horizons. We will aim for $2 billion in trade in equivalent. This is a large-scale task, it requires systemic approaches. We have reserves and an understanding of where to move, in what directions, in order to complement our economies and improve the quality of life of our citizens. We not only focus on the results. We look to the future," Nikolai Snopkov said.

He also thanked Governor of Leningrad Oblast Alexander Drozdenko and his team for their support in the development of cooperation between Belarus and this Russian region.
"Without this, we would not have achieved such success, including in trade," Nikolai Snopkov stressed.
