MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Yuri Seliverstov spoke about the results of the Union State Council of Ministers meeting held in Moscow on 2 February, BelTA has learned.
“All the decisions on the agenda were signed. There were several of them, including on the implementation of the main directions of the Union State’s work for the current period and tasks for the future. The heads of government set priorities: continued cooperation, integration projects, logistics links, and tourism. This will be the main focus going forward. The agenda for the Supreme State Council meeting is currently being prepared: all materials have been reviewed and approved,” the diplomat said.
The main focus of cooperation between the two countries is economic. In particular, the meeting adopted a decision on which products will be considered Union State goods. “This is certainly not the final stage, because the parties want not only to designate a product as Union State-made, but also to ensure the promotion of such products,” he emphasized.
The parties will continue to work in the energy sector, on gas and oil issues. “These topics will still be discussed, as well as matters of mutual trade. Life changes faster than we make decisions, so we need to work more promptly and find interconnected solutions. The results of mutual trade will show everything: if we achieve the planned growth, it means we are moving in the right direction,” the ambassador noted.
