SMOLEVICHI DISTRICT, 3 June (BelTA) – Manufacturing cooperation between the Belarusian automaker MAZ and the Russian company KamAZ will ensure their independence from external factors, BelTA learned from State Secretary, Deputy Industry and Trade Minister of Russia Viktor Yevtukhov.

Viktor Yevtukhov said: “Cooperation between our companies advances along three avenues now. KamAZ supplies the necessary parts and components to MAZ. MAZ does the same for KamAZ. They also work together to create the parts and components that we haven’t made and which will allow us to secure independence in this sector.”

The official also talked about competition on the market of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. “We don’t create manufacturing facilities that will compete with our Belarusian colleagues in the future. The Belarusian colleagues don’t do it with regard to Russian manufacturers,” the deputy industry and trade minister stressed. Joint projects in the sphere of import substitution are financed meanwhile. It helps start making components and materials, which are not manufactured either in Belarus or the Russian Federation right now.

Viktor Yevtukhov stressed that manufacturing cooperation between the two countries develops very actively. “We’ve resolved the most complicated and acutest problem for both countries: the recognition of the universal product of Belarus and the Russian Federation. There will be no arguments about it now. No division into Russian goods and Belarusian ones. There will be joint Union State goods. It is important primarily for allowing manufacturers to participate in central government purchases, regional, and municipal ones. A lot of work has been done. We still have a lot of projects and accomplishments ahead of us,” he remarked.

The official also pointed out that within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union there is a separate program and separate funding to create manufacturing cooperation projects involving three and more countries. “Such projects have to pass thorough expert evaluation in order not to use raw materials and components from third countries to make joint projects. It is necessary to make a joint union product in order to minimize dependence on foreign solutions,” he emphasized.
