MINSK, 24 July (BelTA) – A container train carrying Belarusian cut timber has left for China, BelTA has learned.
“Today Beltamozhservice sent 50 containers with about 2,000m3 of sawn pine wood to China. By teaming up with Bellesexport and the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange, our company helps forestry enterprises sell their products in other countries, including in China,” said Yelena Skripchik, First Deputy Director General of the Belarusian logistics company RUP Beltamozhservice.
In H1 2020 Beltamozhservice sent nine container trains (over 500 containers) to China. The total volume of delivered products stands at 12,000 tonnes. “Today we've sent the tenth train to China. The time in transit varies from 14 to 16 days depending on the destination province. Our present freight is supposed to be delivered within two weeks,” the executive said. “The choice of products is quite larger. Today we've sent sawn timber but in the past we delivered peat, flax fiber, dry dairy products, starch, and the rest.”
Since 2016 Beltamozhservice has been developing projects that envisage freight transportation by rail as part of organized container trains within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative. “Today we save time for our exporters and optimize their financial costs. If we talk about strategic plans, we intend to raise the number of export deliveries by rail to 4 times per month,” Yelena Skripchik noted.
In her words, the company has created a multipurpose logistic network, which comprises eight transportation and logistics hub, access roads, and a container site in Minsk District. As it sends off trains, Beltamozhservice offers a full set of logistic services, including freight consolidation from any part of Belarus at its own freight terminals. The company takes orders for transportation, storage, and phytosanitary control, customs clearance of the necessary transport documents and other ones, sealing, forwarding services, customs declaration, and the rest.
