MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) - Diplomats of the Belarusian Embassy took part in a ceremony to sign the agreement on the establishment of friendly exchanges and cooperation between the cities of Grodno and Lanzhou in the Chinese province of Gansu on 31 October, BelTA learned from the Belarusian foreign mission in Beijing.
The event was organized with the assistance of the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Belarus in the People's Republic of China and the Consulate General of Belarus in Chongqing.
The agreement signed by Grodno Mayor Mechislav Goi and Mayor of Lanzhou Zhang Weiwen provides for the deepening of bilateral cooperation, the expansion of exchanges and cooperation between the regions in trade, economic, science, technology, culture, tourism and other sectors. The document is also aimed at strengthening friendly ties between residents of the two cities.
The memorandum on sister-city relations between the province of Gansu and Grodno Oblast was signed in 2007. For 15 years, more than 10 different agreements have been concluded between the regions, with trade and economic cooperation growing especially dynamically.
