MINSK, 7 April (BelTA) – The share of industrial goods in the exchange trade between Belarus and Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan is expected to grow through targeted efforts to attract Tatarstan’s producers and consumers to the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), as well as through brokerage mechanisms that consolidate supply and demand from Tatarstan’s industrial sector on the Belarusian trading platform. These issues were discussed during a visit by a Tatarstan business delegation to BUCE’s central office, the BUCE press service told BelTA.

According to Adel Khaziev, head of the machine tool building committee within Tatarstan’s Industrial Cluster, one of the key functions of his organization is promoting the products of the industrial enterprises on foreign markets. In this context, BUCE can serve as an additional channel for cooperation with Belarusian businesses, helping intensify bilateral interaction in the exchange sector.

“The machine tool building committee is part of the Russian Association of Industrial Clusters, which includes several sectoral promotion centers. In particular, we work closely with the Center for the Promotion of Machine Tool Products and Additive Technologies. It represents the interests of Tatarstan manufacturers of machine tools and 3D-printing equipment and could act as a broker to sell their products on the Belarusian exchange. I believe this would help us achieve the desired results more quickly,” Adel Khaziev said.

Deputy Head of Foreign Economic Relations at BUCE German Puzyrny supported the proposal, noting the important role brokers play in developing exchange trade with Russian regions. “Currently, seven exchange brokers accredited by BUCE operate in the Russian Federation. Each is responsible for a specific region, ensuring a steady inflow of new participants to the trading platform. We do not yet have such a partner in Tatarstan, so we are very interested in accrediting a brokerage company that would promote exchange mechanisms among Tatarstan’s business community. We will provide all necessary advisory and technical support,” he said.

In January-March 2026, exchange trade between Belarus and Tatarstan reached $4.9 million. According to BUCE, Tatarstan was a net importer of Belarusian goods, including skimmed milk powder, dry cream, butter, and cheese. Since the beginning of 2026, the number of Tatarstan companies participating in exchange trading has increased by three and now stands at 63.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
