Belarus eyes expansion of agricultural machinery supplies to Brazil

MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) - Belarus is exploring the possibility of exporting agricultural machinery to Brazil, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Brazil Andrei Andreyev said in an interview with Belarus 1 TV Channel, BelTA has learned.

“Given our cooperation in agriculture and our deliveries of fertilizers, we can confidently say that Brazilian products already include a component of Belarusian exports. However, current trade, which amounts to around $600-700 million, clearly does not reflect the current level of political and economic relations between our countries. Naturally, we can do much more, considering Brazil’s interest in our products and our interest in Brazilian goods, along with the intensive diplomatic, trade and economic contacts. I believe we will soon be exploring additional areas of trade and economic cooperation, especially in light of the objectives set at the president’s recent meeting,” the ambassador stressed.

He emphasized that Brazil is a largely agricultural country. “It has thousands of kilometers of pastureland and immense potential in agriculture. As Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko said, this is our domain. Brazil’s regions differ in their agricultural setups. Our equipment could be in demand there for various purposes. Our Brazilian partners have made that clear. For example, there is currently discussion about possible cooperation to supply Brazil with Belarusian tractors, particularly to support small-scale farming. This is where compact machinery is needed: reliable, durable, easy to repair, cost-effective, user-friendly, and affordable for small farms. Given Brazil’s scale, there could be interest in various lines of our agricultural machinery. We’ve achieved significant results in this sector, visible worldwide. We have expertise, established solutions, a strong design tradition, experience in exports, and in creating joint ventures. However, it’s important to understand that the Brazilian market is highly competitive, with all the global manufacturers present. But I’m confident Belarus will find its niche,” the diplomat remarked.
