Belarus exports 6 m tonnes of dairy products to 69 countries in 2024

MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) - Belarusian dairy processors exported six million tonnes of milk and dairy products in 2024, expanding the geography of supplies to 69 countries, Belarusian First Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksandr Lomsky said at the Dairy Farm international forum, which is taking place in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
The output of livestock products, which is significantly higher in Belarus compared to other post-Soviet countries and some European countries, allows the country not only to ensure its own food security, but also to increase its export potential annually. Nowadays, Belarus is still among the top exporters of dairy products in the world.

In 2024, the dairy export growth rate increased by 11,5% in volume terms and by 17,8% in value terms. The share of dairy products in the total food exports amounted to 40,3%. The geography of supplies was also expanded. In 2023, Belarusian dairy companies exported their products to 59 countries. In 2024, this number increased to 69 countries. Algeria, Mexico, Kuwait, Nigeria, Kenya and other countries opened their markets to Belarusian dairy products. Aleksandr Lomsky stressed that the Belarusian producers are seeking not only to develop new markets, but also to diversify the range of products.

The Dairy Farm forum also featured the ceremony to award the representatives of agricultural organizations and the country's districts who achieved the highest production results with merit badges and honorary diplomas of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

“I believe that the forum is a useful platform to share the expertise of leading specialists. It helps to discuss new proposals and outline approaches that will significantly improve the development mechanisms of dairy cattle breeding in Belarus,” Aleksandr Lomsky concluded.
