Belarus' export up 13.5% to $3.057bn in January 2021

MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – In January 2021 Belarus' export of merchandise and services rose by 13.5% year-on-year to $3.057 billion, BelTA learned from the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).

In January 2021 the trade in goods and services exceeded $5.6 billion, up by 11% from January a year earlier. Import totaled $2.6 billion (up by 8.2%). Foreign trade surplus in goods and services equaled $452.4 million, well above the trade surplus of $261.8 million in January 2020.

Belarus' merchandise trade rose by 15.1% to $4.6 billion. Merchandise export surged by 19.4% to $2.36 billion, with merchandise import up by 10.9% to $2.26 billion. Surplus totaled $100.2 million. In January 2021 Belarus had a deficit of more than $61.2 million.

Foreign trade in services declined by 4.1% year-on-year to $1.054 billion. Export of services amounted to $689.9 million (down by 3%), with import at $364.7 million (down by 6.1%). Surplus of foreign trade in services equaled $325.2 million ($323 million in January 2021).
