Foreign investment in Belarus’ economy at $2.8bn in Q1 2024

MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – Foreign investors injected $2.8 billion in the Belarusian economy in the first quarter of 2024, BelTA learned from the National Statistical Committee.

The biggest investors were businesses from the Russian Federation (57.5% of all investments), Cyprus (13.5%) and the United Arab Emirates (9.8%). The foreign direct investment was estimated at $2.3 billion, or 82.6% of all foreign investment.

In January - March 2024, Belarusian organizations invested $1.2 billion overseas. The bulk of it was injected in Russian business entities (91% of all investment). The direct investment accounted for 81.3%.
