Belarus’ ambassador holds meeting with governor of Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast

MOSCOW, 3 April (BelTA) - Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik met with Governor of Astrakhan Oblast, Russia Igor Babushkin, the press service of the diplomatic mission in Russia told BelTA.

"The parties discussed the full range of matters regarding trade and economic cooperation and reviewed the program for the governor's upcoming working visit to Belarus. The parties noted that the annual visits of the Astrakhan Oblast delegation led by Igor Babushkin have given fresh impetus to the development of relations. In 2024, the trade [between Belarus and  Astrakhan Oblast] exceeded $45 million," the press service noted.

The diplomatic mission emphasized that Belarus aims to expand the assortment of a wide range of machinery and increase its supply to Astrakhan Oblast. The specialized trade and service center of MTZ opened in Astrakhan has made Belarusian tractors and equipment even more accessible to local farmers, providing agricultural producers with the opportunity to efficiently and quickly maintain and repair equipment using original MTZ spare parts. The meeting also highlighted the significant potential for expanding cooperation in the supply of elevators.

"Ambassador Aleksandr Rogozhnik and Igor Babushkin reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation in agriculture, including the exchange of experience in developing new technologies in agriculture. The parties also identified cooperation in land reclamation as a promising area," the embassy added.
