MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – Agricultural production in Belarus went up by 4.6% in January-October 2020, Belarus' Agriculture and food Minister Ivan Krupko said at the 26th international wholesale exhibition Prodexpo, BelTA has learned.
“In January-October 2020, agricultural production in farms of all categories increased by 4.6%, agricultural enterprises - by 6.7%. Processing plants are operating at full capacity. The domestic market is fully provided with food. In January-September exports rose by 6.1% year-on-year and amounted to $4.2 billion. Despite the pandemic, our industry showed good results, demonstrated professionalism,” Ivan Krupko noted.
According to him, holding exhibitions and fairs opens up new opportunities for farmers. They allow determining market development trends, establishing business contacts, including with retail networks. "Today the business forum will discuss new products, exports, and new opportunities of agricultural enterprises, processing companies, retailers and wholesalers. I think this platform will contribute to the conclusion of new contracts," the minister said.
The 26th edition of the international wholesale exhibition Prodexpo is running in Minsk on 10-13 November. The business forum “Strategic prospects of food industry development in Belarus” brought together representatives of government agencies, heads of major food enterprises. The program also includes a congress of producers and retail chains, a tasting competition, a culinary cup, the professional forum of bakers and confectioners International Bread Salon, presentations, master-classes, and interactive shows.
