Works by children from Mogilev on display in Louvre

MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – Paintings and drawings of children from Mogilev were put on public view in the Louvre in Paris, the STV TV channel informed, BelTA has learned.

One of the world's most famous museums dubbed the ‘heart of French art' features almost a thousand works by children and youth from more than 30 countries, including Austria, Belarus, Belgium, China, Thailand. Children from Mogilev still do not believe that their works are on display under the same roof with world masterpieces. The works of the fledgling Belarusian artists were handpicked for the “One World” International Children's Art Exhibition.

After the exhibition the works will not be returned to the artists. All of them will be sold at charity auctions.

Lyubava Brovkova, a student of the Mogilev art studio Shar, said that ten of her paintings are exhibited in the Louvre. “It was very difficult to part with the works, because I put so much effort in them, but they will be sold at charity auctions. I am glad that my works are exhibited together with works by famous artists,” Lyubava said.

Fyodor Rakutko from the same art studio is also happy to have his works on display in the Louvre. “I usually paint with ink, my paintings are mostly dark, but these three paintings that ended up in the Louvre turned out to be very bright, juicy, colorful. I think this is the reason why they caught fancy of the jury and made the cut for the Louvre,” said the young artist.
