Results of Belarus-Russia cooperation praised

MINSK, 9 December (BelTA) – Cooperation between Belarus and Russia has gained great momentum, Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly Commission on International Affairs, Migration Policy and Relations with Compatriots, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives, told the media during a gala event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Union State Treaty at the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater in Minsk on 8 December, BelTA has learned.

"We have achieved great results. First of all, in terms of counteracting and reducing the impact of the economic sanctions that were imposed groundlessly and illegally against Belarus and Russia. We have made quite important headway in import substitution. We are reviving microelectronics and machine tool building industries that are essential for the manufacturing of high-tech goods and other products that will ensure the defense capability of the Union State. We are talking about Oreshnik. This is also the result of joint work within the Union State," Sergei Rachkov stated.

"We consider our cooperation promising in agriculture, mechanical engineering, nuclear energy and, certainly, in space industry where we have a very strong potential," he emphasized. "We are currently implementing 31 projects within the Union State."
Attending the event were top officials of the Republic of Belarus, heads of government bodies and organizations of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, other invitees. The program featured Modest Mussorgsky's opera Khovanshchina by the Mariinsky Theater.
