Reservists going through refresher course as part of Belarusian army's comprehensive readiness test

MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – About 500 reservists have reinforced the 19th Independent Guards Mechanized Brigade as part of the ongoing campaign designed to check the combat readiness and the mobilization readiness of the Belarusian army. Over 100 of the reservists reinforced the brigade's reconnaissance battalion. The reservists are going through combat shakedown in the brigade's exercise area these days, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

According to the commanding officer of the reconnaissance battalion, Lieutenant-Colonel Nikolai Valuyev, the reservists are already past the individual training stage. They had to recall how to handle issue weapons and brushed up on gunnery regulations. They also practiced what a soldier does in a firefight, studied modern communications equipment, remembered first aid skills, and practiced field engineering.

The reservists are going through all kinds of combat training. Close attention is paid to the use of reconnaissance and communications equipment. The combat training will end with a tactical exercise involving live fire.
