MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – A video released by the Belarus 1 TV channel features Tomasz Beroza, a Polish citizen permanently residing in Belarus, who worked for Polish intelligence, BelTA reports.
Polish special services do not only recruit Belarusians, but also involve their own citizens in espionage activities. One of them was Polish national Tomasz Beroza. He married a Belarusian woman after graduating from university and moved to the town of Bereza to live with her. Tomasz Beroza ran a business and regularly visited his parents in Poland. But not only them - there were people in Poland for whom Tomasz Beroza fulfilled secret assignments in our country.
“It all started around 2009 or 2010, when I was a student. A man named Piotr approached me. He was interested in what I was doing. And during one of the meetings, he said that he was an employee of the Polish military intelligence. I traveled to Belarus, and he was interested in prices in stores, interest rates in banks, the attitude of people to the government. He gave me an email address, a password and said that we would communicate through this email,” said Tomasz Beroza, who was sentenced for spying for the Polish special services.
“I am a citizen of Poland, I wanted to help my country. And they reassured me that if something happens, I would not face any problems, they would get me out, the Polish government would take me home,” added Tomasz Beroza.
The Belarus 1 TV channel reported that the man has a residence permit in Belarus. According to the TV channel, Tomasz Beroza prepared caches and observation points for Polish agents, among other things. In particular, Tomasz Beroza had to find out on a certain day and at a certain time how busy the parking lot at the Celsius business center in Brest was.
