BREST, 12 January (BelTA) - Polessky State University has launched an international project on environmental safety “Synergy of Educational, Scientific, Management and Industrial Components for Climate Management and Climate Change Prevention”, Vladimir Shtepa, dean of the engineering department of the university, told BelTA.

The project, which became one of the winners of the EU's Erasmus+ program, involves 12 universities from seven countries. Its implementation will make it possible to integrate the world's best practices into the educational process of the university, and students will be able to acquire up-to-date knowledge in the engineering field of climate management.

“First of all, it concerns such specialties of the engineering faculty as industrial fish farming, garden and park construction, information systems and technologies. In 2021-2023 students will complete internships at partner universities in Italy, Germany, Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuania and Latvia. They will be trained to implement the European mechanisms of student business projects and climate start-ups as the main components of modern innovative education,” the dean said.

Applicants for international training will be selected on the basis of competition. Among the criteria are the student's academic performance, a well-founded motivation letter, and a research plan.

The Polesye Science and Technology Park will also equip a certified climate control center. It will work closely with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the Housing and Utilities Ministry, local authorities, environmental organizations, enterprises which are sources of greenhouse gas emissions.
