VITEBSK, 28 June (BelTA) - The 12th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will be held in Nizhny Novgorod, Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, said during the plenary session on the topic "The role of interregional cooperation in building an innovative economy of the Union State" at the 11th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.
"I would like to extend gratitude from the Russian participants to our Belarusian friends, to everyone who was next to us these days," said Valentina Matviyenko. “We are waiting to host you next year in Nizhny Novgorod. There was a competition between the Russian regions, Nizhny Novgorod won. They are working very hard, preparing to deliver a high-quality forum, though I think it is already hard to surpass Belarus in this regard. But we will try to be on par."
"The most important thing that the governors asked me to convey words of profound gratitude to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. He always pays great attention to the heads of our regions, meets with them, always finds a solution to any issue. It is always an amazing, friendly atmosphere. The 11th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia was held in Vitebsk, Polotsk, Novopolotsk on 27-28 June. The event was organized by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
