New TV channel of Belarus-Russia Union State to go on air on 1 April

MOSCOW, 27 March (BelTA) – The new TV channel Soyuzny will begin broadcasting at 00:00 on 1 April. It is part of the structure of the Belarus-Russia Union State media company and will replace the BelRos TV channel, Roman Galperin, Broadcasting Director of the Union State media company, told BelTA.

According to him, the core of the channel’s broadcasting will be Union State-related content. “This is our main task. We will cover everything related to the Union State. We are a navigator for the Union State, and our mission is to explain what this integration project gives to every resident of Belarus and Russia,” Roman Galperin said.

The launch of the channel was also commented on by Head of the media company Yekaterina Abramova. “We will build our programming based on the real needs of our viewers. We will follow the principle formulated by Belarusian President Aleksandr Grigoryevich Lukashenko: in building the Union State, Belarus and Russia proceed from real life. This is why our protagonists will not only be officials, but also cosmonauts, athletes, scientists, and people who lived through the war – those whose stories truly move and unite. The Union State has millions of living human connections. Our task is to show the union not as a project, but as life itself,” she emphasized.

On the very first day, the channel will air a historical premiere and documentary films provided by Belteleradiocompany, ONT, STV, Mir, RT, and the Russian society Znanie, as well as feature films. Every day, news will be broadcast every two hours during the day and evening, along with podcasts, long-form classic interviews of about 25 minutes, and films and series in the evenings. In particular, Belarusfilm will provide a large selection of titles from its golden collection for broadcast on Soyuzny.

“We are selecting films that will be interesting to viewers in both Belarus and Russia. In addition, we will have live news,” Roman Galperin added.

The Union State media company was established in accordance with the resolution of the Union State Supreme State Council dated 29 January 2024 and the resolution of the Union State Council of Ministers dated 5 November 2024 on reforming the Union State mass media.

The company’s main goal is to create a unified information space of the Union State. Its tasks include producing and distributing television, online, and print content about life in Belarus and Russia, as well as covering integration processes, shared history, culture, and technological developments.
