MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – Belarus remains a calm and confidently developing country amid global turbulence, said Oleg Romanov, Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Commission on Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
He emphasized that the anniversary of the inauguration of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is a historic event. “Its historic significance lies in the fact that the country has preserved the continuity of its development: the policy that for decades has guided and continues to guide our country along the path of progress, toward becoming one of the leaders of global economic, technological, and socio-cultural development. We are a regional leader. Many major countries in the region, and beyond the region, around the world, look to our president and our country. This shows that the policy chosen by President Aleksandr Grigoryevich Lukashenko has been validated by practice, by life itself, and is delivering results. The fact that our country remains calm and confidently developing amid global turbulence is proof of this. In many parts of the world today, people can only dream of the conditions in which Belarusians live: citizens go to work peacefully, build and develop their families, educate their children,” he said.
Oleg Romanov explained why the geopolitical situation in the world does not affect the well-being of the Belarusian people. “In history and geopolitics, there is a concept known as ‘sliding toward war’, and today we see this process unfolding [in the world]. Our president is one of those who prevents this slide. He is a peacemaker not in name, but in action and essence. At every platform, he proposes realistic steps that would prevent a war from breaking out in our region and that would help stop the wars already being waged on the continent and across the planet. This dimension of our president’s work is no less important for us than the domestic agenda and policy, because much of how we develop within our country depends on the external situation and on what is happening beyond our borders,” he stressed.
