MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) - The turnout on the first day of early voting shows the interest of Belarusian voters, Sergei Lebedev, CIS Secretary General and head of the CIS observation mission to the presidential election in Belarus, told the media, BelTA has learned.
“The first day of early voting took place yesterday. I am pleased to say that the turnout yesterday was 8%. This shows the interest of Belarusian voters,” Sergei Lebedev said.
“I think that on the main election day the Belarusian voters will actively participate in the voting process and express their will. It is already clear that the turnout will be high. Public opinion polls show that many people would like to give their vote for peace, stability, and further progressive development of Belarus. This is something we would all be very happy about,” he emphasized.
The presidential election in Belarus is scheduled for 26 January 2025.
