KGB reveals details about citizens of Belarus, Poland who spied for Poland

MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) –  Chief of the Investigative Office of Belarus’ State Security Committee (KGB) Konstantin Bychek told the Belarus 1 TV channel  about the charges brought against a Belarusian citizen and a Polish citizen who collaborated with Polish military intelligence, BelTA has learned.

“Investigative units of the State Security Committee investigated criminal cases against serviceman of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus Dmitry Pozdnyakov who was accused of treason under Article 356 of the Criminal Code, as well as against a citizen of the Republic of Poland Tomasz Beroza who was accused of committing crimes under Article 358 and Article 358 (note) of the Criminal Code,” Konstantin Bychek said.

According to him, Dmitry Pozdnyakov and Tomasz Beroza were accused of collaborating with the foreign intelligence service of the Polish Ministry of National Defense. This included espionage, disclosure of state secrets, and other types of assistance to Polish military intelligence in carrying out activities aimed at harming the national security of Belarus.



“On 23 November 2023, Pozdnyakov and Beroza were found guilty by the Brest Regional Court of committing the crimes incriminated to them and sentenced to 19 and 14 years in prison, respectively,” Konstantin Bychek emphasized.
