Irkutsk Oblast governor: Belarus, Russian region implement all agreements

MOSCOW, 20 January (BelTA) - All the agreements reached during the visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Irkutsk Oblast in June 2024 are being fully implemented, Governor of Russia’s Irkutsk Oblast Igor Kobzev told the media after the meeting with Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik in Moscow on 20 January, BelTA has learned.

According to Igor Kobzev, during the visit the Belarusian head of state visited the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, where he got familiar with the development of a new Russian airliner MS-21. “The president looked at everything related to cooperation. Today the aircraft plant is working together with colleagues from Belarus. Russia has the United Aircraft Corporation which coordinates our joint actions,” the governor said.

He also noted a significant increase in exports from Belarus to Irkutsk Oblast. “We see the interest of Irkutsk Oblast residents in buying Belarusian food products. Despite high competition, there is a stable buyer of Belarusian products in Irkutsk Oblast,” Igor Kobzev said.

According to him, the parties are forming a joint agenda in the modernization of agriculture, construction industry and education. “We have a good understanding of how to further interact. We have discussed possible new areas with the ambassador of Belarus. There are five-six of them,” the governor said.

Speaking about the ongoing election campaign in Belarus, the Irkutsk Oblast governor said: “In the Union State we must support each other. Today we realize that the election process shapes the vector of development for the next few years. I am confident that the people of Belarus will make the right choice. They understand what is happening in the world today and how we all need stability.”
