Iranian ambassador opens press conference in Minsk with footage of attack’s aftermath

MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – A press conference for journalists in Minsk hosted by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus Alireza Sanei on 4 March began with shocking video footage showing the destruction from Israel’s treacherous attack on Iran with U.S. support, juxtaposed with peaceful scenes of Iranian life before the strike, BelTA has learned.

The head of the diplomatic mission spoke in detail about the situation in his country and the region, as well as the events that preceded the attack.

“Iranians won’t give up. Many are surprised how Iran is able to respond to this attack despite 47 years of sanctions. War is not our choice. We chose diplomacy,” the ambassador emphasized.

The diplomat stated that civilian facilities – schools, hospitals – are unacceptable as targets of attack, resulting in the deaths of peaceful Iranian citizens.

Earlier that same day, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with the Iranian ambassador. During the meeting, the head of state emphasized: “Israel’s treacherous attack on Iran with U.S. support is unacceptable. All the more so, that this attack killed innocent people, and above all, children. The spiritual leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, has died. You know that I had good relations with him. I think we met about three times and discussed international problems. He was a humanist, not a military man, focused on protecting his people and his state. Therefore, what happened to him, to his family, to his wife who died from her wounds, is absolutely unacceptable to me,” the Belarusian leader stated. Aleksandr Lukashenko once again conveyed his condolences regarding the deaths of civilians, children, and Ali Khamenei in Iran.
