Flights of Belarusian An-12 aircraft suspended until end of Irkutsk crash investigation

MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) – Belarusian An-12 aircraft will not be flown until the investigation into the crash of an An-12 aircraft near Irkutsk is finished, BelTA learned from Director of the Aviation Department of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry Artyom Sikorsky on 3 November.

An An-12 aircraft of the Belarusian company Aircompany Grodno crashed at 11:34 on 3 November while flying in icy rain after missing an approach to the Irkutsk airport. The Aviation Department has decided to suspend the commercial operation of Belarusian An-12 aircraft until the investigation into the crash is over, Artyom Sikorsky said.

The official added that a special commission will make the cause of the crash public once the investigation is over.

Representatives of the Aviation Department, who will be part of the commission established by the Interstate Aviation Committee, will leave for Irkutsk soon.
