Eurasian Economic Union to consider regulation of climate agenda in August

MOSCOW, 15 July (BelTA) - In mid-August, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will consider a five-year plan on devising the approaches to the climate agenda within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union approved by the heads of government in 2024, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission told BelTA with reference to ember of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrey Slepnev.

“In particular, it is proposed to develop interstate standards in the field of carbon regulation, as well as agreed decisions regarding the accreditation of relevant validation and verification bodies,” Andrey Slepnev said.

According to him, the meeting will focus on measures to prevent the occurrence of barriers within the Eurasian Economic Union in the wake of the climate regulation of its member states, and interaction with third partner countries.

“The proposed measures, after approval by the heads of government, will be included into the action plan to implement the Declaration on the Further Development of Economic Processes within the EAEU until 2030 and for the period until 2045,” the EEC added.
