BelCCI points out European private sector's support for Eurasian integration despite sanctions

MOSCOW, 12 March (BelTA) – By supporting the idea of integration of integrations in the Eurasian space the European private sector gives kind of an answer to those, who initiate the introduction of sanctions. Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Vladimir Ulakhovich made the statement during the plenary session of the international economic forum timed to the 30th anniversary since the foundation of the Commonwealth of Independent States on 12 March, BelTA has learned.

The official reminded about the European private sector's initiative to establish common economic space from Vladivostok to Lisbon. Many in the Commonwealth of Independent States have backed it up. “The concept of integration of integrations, which has been repeatedly voiced by Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of Russia Vladimir Putin, has turned out to really match interests of the largest European companies,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said. “More than 100 companies have acceded to the memorandum, which envisages common economic space on the basis of harmonization of customs procedures, tax regulations, certification rules, and technical standards. The number includes the largest companies such as Raiffeisen, Siemens, Bosch, Continental, Clarins. It is kind of an answer of the private sector to the restrictions that our partners in Europe constantly enforce at the political level.” The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has also acceded to this initiative.

Vladimir Ulakhovich also said that within the framework of Belarus' presidency in the Commonwealth of Independent States plans have been made to arrange a meeting of heads of the chambers of commerce and industry of the CIS member states in Minsk this year. In his words, the idea has already been backed by the Belarusian government and the CIS Executive Committee.
