MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) - The 14th edition of the Belarusian international media forum Partnership for the Future: Journalism and Social Security will kick off in Brest on 23 May, BelTA has learned.
The two-day event will bring together representatives of 25 countries, including state officials and public figures, diplomats, representatives of expert and media communities, journalists from Azerbaijan, Armenia, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Germany, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Russia, Serbia, the U.S., Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, France, and Estonia. The delegations will total more than 250 people, including nearly 100 foreign guests.
The media forum will have its plenary session in the Rynkovka Estate tourist complex (Tyukhinichi village, Brest District). Participants will then work in various breakout sections to discuss the media space and information security, the impact of social networks and the blogosphere on the public opinion and increasing the government content, modern internet journalism and its role in solving social and political problems of regions.
The second day of the forum will traditionally be devoted to the Summer School of Journalism. This year, it will deal with the topic “Modern Journalism and Social Media” and will take place in Brest State University. Leading Belarusian and Russian journalists will give master classes on modern information technologies in television production, bloggers' role in promoting content in the modern media space, the art of debates on television and others. The agenda of the second day also includes the roundtable “Belarus-Russia Union State: 20 years in Media Space. Results and Prospects”.
The forum will round off with the tour of Brest to pay tribute to the 75th anniversary of Belarus' liberation from Nazi invaders. Participants and guests will visit the Brest Hero Fortress memorial complex, the biggest memorial to the courage of the Soviet nation during the Great Patriotic War in the post-Soviet space.
Over the years, the forum has grown to become a major international event bringing together experts and representatives of the media community who engage in dialogue and exchange views, develop new ideas and concepts. The event highlights the role of mass media in developing interstate cooperation, promoting understanding between countries and nations and humanitarian values and is held under the motto Partnership for the Future.
The international media forum has been organized by Belarus' Information Ministry, the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia with support of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee, the CIS Interstate Foundation for Humanitarian Cooperation, Belarus' Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the CIS Executive Committee, the Belarusian Union of Journalists.
