PYONGYANG, 26 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian Education Ministry intends to unlock the potential of cooperation in education with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). The relevant agreement was signed as Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko visited North Korea, BelTA has learned.
Belarusian Education Minister Andrei Ivanets told reporters: “Within the framework of the agreement signed by the education ministries of our countries we intend to organize exchange programs and training of students, internships for professors and lecturers. Today we see a high level of education in the field of natural sciences and precise, engineering sciences. There is no doubt that we have something to share in this field.”
He remarked that quite many citizens from North Korea are students in China and Russia these days. DPRK students also received education in Belarus’ territory in the days of the Soviet Union. “We are convinced that this potential should be unlocked,” the minister said.
In his words, the DPRK primarily needs engineering personnel, agribusiness specialists trained as well as the personnel that focus on natural sciences.
