MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) – It would be a great idea to hold a parliamentary security summit in the BRICS Plus format, Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said at the plenary session of the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg. The plenary session discussed the role of parliaments in improving the efficiency of international relations and ensuring their democratization,” BelTA has learned.

“It was with great pride and admiration for the great feat of the Soviet people that Belarusians celebrated Independence Day and the 80th anniversary of the country's liberation from the Nazi invaders on 3 July. We, like no one else, know the price of the Great Victory. That is why we are committed to peaceful coexistence and good-neighborly, friendly relations with all states, we urge all progressive forces of humanity to join efforts to ensure common and indivisible security. We put forward regional and global strategic peacekeeping initiatives,” noted Natalya Kochanova.

Belarus successfully held a high-level international conference in October 2023, the speaker emphasized. “As a follow-up move, we propose to hold a BRICS Plus parliamentary summit on international peace, security and sustainable development, in order to discuss ways to resolve conflicts through a fair, equal and mutually respectful dialogue,” added Natalya Kochanova.
