Belarus' Customs refuses to clear Skoda vehicles imported across EAEU customs border

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – The State Customs Committee has explained how the customs service will handle Skoda vehicles in order to implement the Council of Ministers' resolution No.240 on special measures of 23 April 2021, BelTA has learned.

According to the source, the Belarusian customs service will not provide customs clearance and will not release prohibited means of transportation into free circulation if they are imported to Belarus across the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union. The customs service will not register the payment of the recycling duty with regard to such vehicles either, including those, which are imported to Belarus from a Eurasian Economic Union member state.

In order to ensure the protection of national interests, taking into account the unfriendly actions against the Belarusian people, the government has announced a list of goods prohibited for import and sale in Belarus.

BelTA reported earlier that the Council of Ministers' resolution No.240 prohibits importing and selling a number of brands in Belarus. Those are products made by Liqui Moly, Skoda Auto и Beiersdorf (the trademarks Nivea, Eucerin, La Prairie, Labello, Hansaplast, Florena, 8x4, Skin Stories, Gammon, Tesa, Chaul, Coppertone, Hidrofugal, Stop the water while using me). The measure will stay into effect for six months. The resolution does not apply to personal-use goods, which are imported by citizens to Belarus, to vehicles, which are registered in the Eurasian Economic Union member states, and to vehicles, which are temporarily imported into the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
