Andreichenko: Belarusian economy must adapt amid unpredictable conditions

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) - It is necessary to adapt the national economy to operation in tough and unpredictable conditions, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said at the opening of the eighth session of the House of Representatives of the seventh convocation on 15 March, BelTA has learned.

“The uncertain geopolitical environment obliges us to take all necessary legal measures to ensure economic security of the country and preserve decent living standards of Belarusians. We are witnessing the collapse of the old system of world economic ties. World markets are being reshaped. Logistic, technological and financial chains are being severed. Trade wars and sanctions have already brought the world close to a catastrophe. Although Belarus has a serious margin of safety, we need to adapt the national economy to work under these tough and sometimes unpredictable conditions, while making everything possible to preserve our strategic sectors, key industries and jobs,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

According to him, the work on the draft law on the national budget should be aimed at this as well. “We should work out specific proposals already now. Despite all the difficulties, it is necessary to maintain the budget socially oriented. In this regard, it is important to use the information that we summarized during the public discussion of the draft amendments to the Constitution,” the speaker said.
