Lukashenko wants bigger role of prosecuting authority in ensuring law and order

MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – The prosecuting authority should come to play a greater role in maintaining law and order, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Prosecutor General Andrei Shved on 26 July, BelTA has learned.

“The main thing we agreed on is taking additional measures to strengthen the role of the prosecuting authority in maintaining law and order in Belarus. I will not remind you what place the prosecuting authority holds and should hold in our state,” the head of state said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that he is counting on Andrei Shved personally: “I believe that with you in charge of the prosecuting authority, it will take a worthy place in the system of government bodies of our country.”
