Lukashenko urges parents to tolerate school safety rules

MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko asked parents to bear with school safety and security requirements as he addressed the National Pedagogical Conference on 24 August, BelTA has learned.

“The minister reported on the measures taken to reinstate discipline and order in schools. This is right and it has to do with safety and security of children. First of all, I urge parents to treat these requirements with due understanding,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The president emphasized that it is in the best interests of parents and the state to join efforts to protect children from internet safety risks. “Everything that happens there is, of course, virtual, not real. But the consequences of bullying, trolling, grooming, and other threats are quite real. I would like to reiterate: we all bear responsibility. If, God forbid, a child is harassed online and offline, then questions should be raised with bullies' parents and the class teacher who is responsible for the psychological climate in the classroom,” the head of state said.

For this it is necessary to spend more time with children outside school. “Yes, it's not easy given the busy life of today's adults. But our efforts will help keep our children safe. It is important for their future and the future of the country. Take the sixth school day more seriously. When parents join children for sporting and cultural events, when everything is organized in an interesting way, then the school and the family act as one. You know it is worth a lot,” he said.
