Lukashenko, Kallaur discuss events to mark 25th anniversary of Belarusian ruble

MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – The events to mark the 25th anniversary of the Belarusian ruble were discussed during a meeting between Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Chairman of the Board of the National Bank Pavel Kallaur, BelTA has learned.

According to the head of state, the 25th anniversary of the Belarusian national currency should not escape public attention and asked the head of the central bank about the proposals in this regard.

“People used to call the national currency different nicknames, the zaichik and so on. Back then the government and the Supreme Council had to work in the toughest conditions. You all know where we started from. We have gradually built our monetary system, developed our currency. Today, the Belarusian national currency is widely recognized,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
