Lukashenko dismisses attempts to discredit Belarus as meaningless moves

MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – Attempts to discredit Belarus in the international arena are a series of meaningless ostentatious moves, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with senior local government officials to discuss topical social and political issues on 30 July, BelTA has learned.

“Attempts to discredit our country in the international arena have been ongoing last August. This is nothing more than a series of meaningless ostentatious moves, especially in the neighboring countries,” the head of state said.

According to him, this absurdity culminated in the ban on flights through Belarus' air space after the Belarusian authorities responded to a terrorist threat on an aircraft that was transiting through Belarus. “Who did they hurt? Only themselves. Political support to the self-exiled opposition leaders has yielded nothing. Now they just make endless overseas trips with the hope that ‘Biden will help us'. I have heard, he treated them to some cookies,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.

Next, they might try to put pressure on Belarus' partners, the president believes. “In this case, we should remain a reliable, consistent, and predictable partner and continue honoring agreements with friendly countries,” he stressed.
