SOCHI, 7 February (BelTA) - Part of the Russian delegation that had not been able to arrive on time for the talks between the presidents of Belarus and Russia Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin arrived in Sochi. The Russian plane landed at Sochi Airport, BelTA has learned.
The heads of state talked one-on-one in the format of a formal breakfast for about an hour and a half. Then they were joined by members of the delegations.
On behalf of Russia, apart from Vladimir Putin, the talks are attended by Deputy Head of the Russian President's Administration Dmitry Kozak, Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev and Russia's Ambassador to Belarus Dmitry Mezentsev.
The Belarusian delegation includes First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Krutoi, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Vladimir Semashko, Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich and Chairman of the Belneftekhim state petrochemical concern Andrei Rybakov.
“Unfortunately, our delegation has not come here in full yet. I hope that the weather will improve, and they will arrive a little later. We can already start our discussions, talk over current issues,” said Vladimir Putin.
Thus, another round of the Belarusian-Russian talks will be held in Krasnaya Polyana, with all members of the delegations present.
The heads of state are also set to participate in a friendly hockey match in the Galaktika sports and cultural center.
TASS reported earlier that the plane of the Rossiya special flight detachment with a part of the government delegation and journalists of the Russian presidential pool departed from Moscow to Sochi with a two-hour delay. On board the plane are Deputy Prime Minister Aleksei Overchuk, Energy Minister Alexander Novak and First Deputy Minister of Economic Development Mikhail Babich.
The flight from Moscow's Vnukovo Airport was delayed due to bad weather- a snow storm with strong side winds.
The plane carrying some members of the Russian delegation heading to Sochi had to land in Mineralnye Vody.
