Opinion: West has set Slavonic nations at odds with each other and is trying to get Belarus involved

SOLIGORSK, 13 October (BelTA) – The West has already set Slavonic nations at odds with each other and is trying to get Belarus involved in the conflict. State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich made the statement during a meeting held at premises of OAO Belaruskali on 13 October to raise awareness of those present about the military political situation in the country and abroad, BelTA has learned.

Upon instructions of the head of state top officials of defense, security, and law enforcement agencies are meeting with worker collectives all over the country. According to Aleksandr Volfovich, the purpose of the meeting is to deliver objective information about the complicated situation evolving around the Republic of Belarus at present. The official said: “There is a lot of information. I'd say that mass media deliver information to people, to worker collectives via news channels rather well. But regretfully not everyone watches the news or are skeptical about it. The president wants only objective and truthful information delivered to people.”

The president closely monitors the evolving situation, Aleksandr Volfovich noted. “Unfortunately, it shows tendency towards aggravation. Not everyone likes the fact that in the center of Europe exists such a nook of security, peace, and creation like the Republic of Belarus,” he stressed. “Belarus has not laid claims to anyone and does not have any territorial claims. But regretfully our neighbors, which we cannot choose, – Poles, Lithuanians, and Ukrainians – have been recently demonstrating increasingly malevolent intentions towards what is going on in the territory of our republic.”

Aleksandr Volfovich said: “Political pressure has been going on for a long time already just like economic sanctions have as well as military presence and the demonstration of military resolve along our borders. And all of it is getting more intense. Indeed, the West is trying harder and harder to find levers and methods of influence in order to get our country involved in a military conflict. Regretfully, the West has set Slavonic nations at odds with each other and is now trying to get Belarus involved by all means. They resort to various kinds of fake news and other options but as the president said, Belarus is not going to fight and will not make claims. Unless our state border is violated. Then we will fight back.”

In today's situation defense, security, and law enforcement agencies are taking all measures to keep the situation stable, to prevent some destructive forces from destabilizing it, the official said. “The president wants people to hear this information first-hand,” Aleksandr Volfovich explained.
