Hybrid impact on Belarus, Russia, counteraction of sanctions discussed in Minsk

MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – Matters relating to the hybrid impact on Belarus and Russia, interference in internal affairs of sovereign countries, and measures to counteract the sanction policy of Western countries were discussed at a meeting of representatives of Belarus' Security Council and Russia's Security Council in Minsk on 29 June, BelTA has learned.

In particular, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich met with Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev. Apart from that, their deputies Vladimir Archakov and Rashid Nurgaliyev oversaw consultations between the offices of the Belarusian and Russian security councils.

Such events are held every year. They cover a broad range of military and political matters and are aimed at reinforcing Belarus-Russia strategic partnership. This time the sides exchanged opinions about topical international security problems amid the degradation of the existing arms control system. The sides also discussed approaches to security in various spheres.

Preparations for the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2021 were discussed as well as military technology cooperation and the facilitation of control measures at the Belarusian-Russian border.

After the events State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told media the sides had reaffirmed dedication to further enhancement of interaction and cooperation in various areas of national security and dedication to common approaches to resolving problems of international security and regional security.
