MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – A phone conversation between Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov and Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov took place on 6 March upon the initiative of the Belarusian side, BelTA has learned.
Maxim Ryzhenkov expressed concern about the escalation in the Middle East in view of the incident in the city of Nakhchivan. He noted that there is a high risk of the conflict’s further expansion and of third countries getting involved in it. The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs offered genuine support to the leadership of the Republic of Azerbaijan and to the friendly Azerbaijani nation.
In turn, the Azerbaijani minister of foreign affairs informed his Belarusian counterpart about the development of the situation in the region, consequences of the drone attack, and the actions Azerbaijan is taking.
The parties noted it is important to keep peace and stability in the region. The role of diplomatic leverage in resolution matters was mentioned.
